Monarch Select (Pty) Ltd ("Monarch Select", "we", "us") is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how we protect it, and the rights you have over it.
When you sign up for membership, we collect: your first and last name, email address, phone number, general location, years of relevant experience, your chosen membership tier, and a photo for your digital member card. Payment card details are never collected or stored by us — these are entered directly with our payment processor, PayFast, and we only ever receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, together with a payment reference and subscription token.
We process this information to: create and administer your membership, activate and display your digital member card, bill your monthly subscription via PayFast, communicate with you about your membership, and meet our own legal and accounting obligations. We do not collect your South African ID number or any PSIRA registration details as part of membership, and we do not use your information for purposes beyond running the membership.
Your membership data is stored in an access-controlled member database, and your digital card is served over an encrypted connection. The card page deliberately only ever displays a limited, non-sensitive subset of your information — never your email, phone number, or payment details — even to someone who has your card's link. Abandoned sign-ups that never complete payment are automatically deleted after a set period, rather than being kept indefinitely.
We share information with service providers who help us run Monarch Select, and only to the extent needed for them to do so: PayFast (Pty) Ltd, for payment processing; and our database and website hosting providers, for storing membership records and running the site. Some of these providers may process data on servers located outside South Africa; where that happens, we rely on those providers' own security and data protection commitments. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
We keep active and past members' information for as long as needed to administer membership and meet legal/accounting requirements. Sign-ups that never complete payment are deleted automatically after a short period.
Under POPIA, you have the right to: be told what information we hold about you and why; access the personal information we hold about you; request that we correct or delete it; object to how we process it; and complain if you believe we've handled it improperly.
